Careers Help
The Careers pages require that cookies, javascript, and SSL 3.0 are enabled. These are widely supported by most browsers and enabled by default. Use the information that follows to check your settings. In some instances you may be required to restart your browser for any changes to take effect. Cookies
The Careers Web site requires a cookie be used to access the pages. This is cookie is used only by the PCAOB Careers Web site and includes no personal information.
Use the directions that follow to set your browser to allow cookies:
Internet Explorer:
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Go to the Privacy tab.
- Click on the Advanced button.
- Make sure Privacy is NOT set to Block all Cookies.
Netscape:
- Select Options from the Tools menu.
- Click the Privacy button.
- Click Cookies.
- Choose "until they expire" from the drop down for Keep Cookies.
Firefox:
- Select Options from the Tools menu.
- Click the Privacy button/icon.
- Click Cookies.
- Ensure that "Allow sites to set cookies" is selected.
Javascript
Javascript is a common scripting language used on web pages. Use the directions that follow to ensure javascript is enabled in your browser:
Internet Explorer
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Click the Custom Level button.
- Scroll down to the Scripting heading.
- Ensure Enable Active Scripting (first item) is set to Enable.
Netscape
- Select Options frm the Tools menu.
- Select Site Controls.
- Select "Site List" tab.
- Check the box next to Enable JavaScript in the Web Features section.
Firefox
- Select Options from the Tools menu.
- Click the Web Features button.
- Ensure Enable Javascript is checked.
SSL 3.0
SSL allows information to be transferred securely over the Internet through the use of encryption. SSL 3.0 is the latest version which uses much stronger encryption than SSL 2.0. If you are unable to reach the careers pages, use the directions that follow to ensure your browser supports and has SSL 3.0 enabled.
Internet Explorer
First ensure SSL 3.0 is supported by your browser version by selecting Help then About Internet Explorer from the menu bar. If the cipher strength information is 40 bit, you will need to upgrade your browser. If cipher strength is 128 bit, check that SSL 3.0 is enabled:
- Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- Scroll down to the Security heading.
- Ensure Use SSL 3.0 is checked (about half way down the list).
- Click Ok to return to the browser main page.
- Exit and relaunch the browser.
Netscape
First ensure that SSL 3.0 is supported by your browser version by clicking Help then About Navigator from the menu bar. Within the encryption information you should see the line "This version supports U.S. encryption." If the line reads "This version supports International encryption," you will need to upgrade your browser. If SSL 3.0 is supported, check that it is enabled:
- Select Options from the Tools menu.
- Expand the Advanced menu.
- Click Security.
- Ensure Use SSL Version 3.0 is checked.
- Click Ok to return to the browser main page.
- Exit and relaunch the browser.
Firefox
Firefox supports SSL 3.0. Use the following steps to check that it is enabled:
- Select Options from the Tools menu.
- Click the Advanced button.
- Scroll down to the Security section.
- Ensure Use SSL 3.0 is checked.
- Click Ok to return to the browser main page.
- Exit and relaunch the browser.
