John Amraen, Associate Director

Mr. Amraen joined the PCAOB staff in April 2004 and became Associate Director in the Division of Registration and Inspections in September of that year. Prior to joining the PCAOB, he was Senior Manager in the professional practice group of KPMG LLP in New York. He was responsible for developing and implementing risk-management initiatives that supported the firm’s audit practice.

Earlier, Mr. Amraen spent four years with Arthur Andersen LLP in Chicago. He worked with the firm’s national office group that was responsible for developing their audit methodology to identify industry-specific information about common risks, business processes, and controls. Additionally, he worked with the firm’s risk-management team, supporting the audit practice in developing a quantitative model that used financial and market data to monitor and assess critical client risks.

Mr. Amraen began his career at a regional public accounting firm and at Fortune 500 companies in a variety of internal audit and financial reporting roles over a period of 13 years. His most recent position prior to Arthur Andersen LLP was as Capital Assets Manager with W.W. Grainger, Inc. Mr. Amraen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business. Mr. Amraen is a certified public accountant in Illinois.
